I didn’t know how else to start this post.
Normally when we publish a new site I write a post so we can show it off. Plus the new site owner gets some traffic by people and the search engines, all a good thing.
Trouble is I’ve been so busy doing the “working in my business rather than working on it”.
Who can relate to that?
I now have 5 new sites and different themes to showcase.
So do I do a blurb on each in a different post or combine the showcase?
We don’t really have a butcher, a baker and a candlestick maker but actually a plumber, a photographer, a two way radio communications specialist, and an insurance broker and financial planner.
We used the Metric, the Landscape and also the NEW Delicious themes for these sites and modified them to suit the company colours, styles and needs. Gotta remember, it’s all about the functionality.

Having websites zoom up the Google charts is what Smarter Websites are all about so with tracking the search engine statistics I’ll update you soon on their success!
PS: One of these sites is a niche product and market my wife and I are entering, check it out, it’s the last thumbnail.
This is Impressive Plumbing in Port Hedland. This is the first website in our “Tradie” line up. Just love working with Tradie’s, being a tradie most of my life, love blue collar thinking, straight down the line and no ‘fluff’ with the task at hand. No over analysing, just get the show on the road and the job done.
This is Mobile Masters in Maddington. These guys have been around for 25 years. It was a real learning curve for me, the world of radio wave and GPS technology is quite amazing. Bet you didn’t know this! All the big name “celebrity” concerts and shows – these guys are behind the two way radio equipment hire for the security company’s that cover those shows. So there you go!
This is Julian Masters from my BNI Profit Express chapter. He literally has clients lives captured in photo’s. From courting to getting married and having babies to the kids parties. Their whole lives captured forever. Awesome stuff. Julian is so passionate about what he does.
This is LifeNet(WA). Tony Hughes handles all my personal insurance needs. They’re all a great team and certainly operate with amazing integrity and diligence.

The Little Fish Outranks the BIG Kahuna’s
Imagine you’re the little distributor with the rights to sell a product. What is potentially a multi million dollar product.
Great, you’ve got a product you can take online so you finally made it. All you need is a website right?
Then you will have joined that elite group that make a living online, you know, the “Sit at home in my underwear (Sorry about that image) at the kitchen table making money while you sleep” dream.
Good luck with that! We all know the reality is that if it sounds to good to be true, it generally is.
Had a meeting with this distributor of a magnetic healing product. A great product range that gave a healthy commission but the bottom line is any product, regardless of value or potential, is not worth a brass razoo if you don’t have a cost effective way of getting it to market.
Helen is a real estate agent. They knew there had to be a life after real estate. Let’s face it, successful real estate agents work pretty well 24/7 so they don’t really have a life. As a family they wanted to create another income stream.
So we went to work creating their “sideline”.
The site is now “live” and the products online. And here’s the big thing, apart from being able to make money online. Their site is outranking the corporate site on the “Alexa” Rank scale – you can read about Alexa here.
It’s just one of the “yardsticks” we use to see how the world views all websites.

and the corporate site – http://www.ecoflow.com/ – is sitting on 2,133,240.
The closer to “zero” the better. It’s not much of a gap but it’s in our favour. The corporate site does have a far better Google page rank simply because ours is a new site, that will take more time.
The point of all this? You can compete with the Big Boys online. That’s the big advantage of using the internet as your business front media, as long as you “get it right”. The Little Fish can Outrank the BIG Kahuna’s…

What a thrill it was to have our first follower register to receive our newsletter and that was only after 1 month of designing the web site.
We have now started to sell on line without really even getting our site fully recognised. Pete really knows what he’s doing. Make sure you follow his instructions.

From Nowhere to # 2 in the Google Charts in 3 Weeks.
This one single tip can get your site to soar the Google charts!
Struggling to get traffic and a decent ranking with your website? I have a colleague in South Australia who is an expert in his field but he was in the same boat.
How many people can relate to this?
He’s very successful and has built up his business mainly through networking and he now has a solid client base. As for any of us, our website is the front end of our business. Trouble is Kurt’s site doesn’t rank anywhere in the search engine results, well, not that we could find. Kurt has become one of our strongest affiliates with Smart Email because email marketing is his speciality.
But his website?
Page 1, nowhere near it! Page 100, good luck with that!
And it’s even a WordPress site so theoretically it should do well, but it’s fundamentally flawed. Kurt had it done a couple of years back, obviously not by us or I wouldn’t be sharing this story.
We’ve scheduled Kurt for a rebuild but I just couldn’t let Kurt flounder until that happens so I agreed to do just one tweak to help him out.
You know how Kentucky Fried’s Colonel Sanders and his “11 Secret Spices” keep the people coming into his chain of stores we have our “37 Secret Tiggers”.
With these “37 Key Triggers” our clients site soar up the Google charts and get more traffic. And it’s free traffic because we rank better in the organic search results.
So we did this one tweak! Normally I wouldn’t do and show and tell on this but this one really is a no brainer when a site is built but the guy who did this site had no regard for integrity and getting the job done right.

So you can read between the lines that Kurt was a happy man. It’s important to remember that search results will be affected by where you are, who in your local area has optimised smartly, what the competition is for that term and things like if you’ve visited the site recently. In Kurt’s case he ranked higher in the Brisbane area and knew about this top ranking because a client told him.
Back to the “tweak”! – Make sure you check this on your own site!
Check your Title, Description and Keywords. It’s known as your meta-data, for the non-techy’s, don’t fade out on me here.
It’s not hard. The “Title” is what you see up in the blue bar at the top of your screen when you look at your site.
2 questions at this point!
- Does that Title “tell the story of who you are and what you do using terms or keywords that you want to rank for?”
- Is anyone actually using those terms? (there are tools you can use to find that out but that’s another post)
Here’s how you can find the description and keywords. It’s simple. Otherwise get your webmaster to tell you. Just by right clicking on the background of your website and then click on “view page source” from the pop up window. Another window of code pops up.
Have a look through for the “Description” and “Keywords”. (A good trick is to press the “Control” key and then the letter “F” and you can use the search feature. You should be able to see both.)
The Title, in a very short sentence should say what you do using keywords for what you want to be known for.
The description is very important. Although it’s hidden in code the search engines use it to rank your site. It should reflect what the Title says along with keyword enhanced sentenced about you and your business.
And here’s the big thing. Most people know that the keywords are important but what they don’t know is that for at least the last 12 months (if not longer) Google has placed less emphasis on the keywords for ranking a site than they do on the description.
You must remember that Google change the “rules of engagement” randomly so we optimise ALL elements ALWAYS!
So for the non-techy’s – have this checked by your webmaster, NOW! Or, make a comment below and I’ll have a quick look for you. I’ll tell you straight up whether you’re on the right track, or if you’re in trouble.
