I made a post on the 29th December raving about the new WordPress 2.9 update. The two new features that stood out for me was the great new Image Editing feature along with the Trash Bin (no more problems with accidentally deleting posts or pages).
What you probably didn’t know was version 2.9 of WordPress created a small bug with the cron jobs feature, so scheduling posts ahead of the time was not working correctly.
How ironic, the time of the year when you’re most likely to take a break so you’ll need this feature and it got broken. We have clients who have added weeks of posts in advance so it seems like it’s “business as usual” for their clients and SEO ranking by having this advance posting feature available.
To its full credit the WordPress community acted pretty fast to fix everything though, and the new release is already available.
You should see a notice to upgrade on your dashboard. Otherwise just head to WordPress.org and download version 2.9.1 manually.
There were some other minor issues fixed as well, so if you are using 2.9 make sure to update.

By the way, always… always, make sure you do a database backup before you update, just in case it crashes.

thanks for the update, very good… I love wordpress and I also note that some of the Plug-Ins dont work with the new version of wordpress… I guess everyone will catch up soon.

So let me just clarify what you are saying in your article.
I can write a number of articles in one day and put them all on my WP site, and then I can automate when these articles are updated to my website for the general public to read, is this correct?

It’s been in WordPress for a while but there has been some issues with RSS feeds picking up the posts title and broadcasting that before the actual post has officially been posted.
To explain – if I loaded 5 posts today, published 1 today and the other 4 were to be released over the next 4 weeks then the RSS feed was picking up that I had loaded 5 posts and would display the titles for the 5 even though only 1 post had been published.
That was a part of the fix but there was an issue and now that has been sorted. Just gotta love how they have the entrepreneur in mind with all this development.
